Born in Waterbury, CT to John and Julia (Wrenn) McGrail, John grew up in Waterbury his whole life. He left to attended the University of Maine Orono where he became involved in many organizations working towards social equality for women, people of color, labor, and to end the war in Vietnam. While studying at U Maine, he met and became friends with author Steven King. In the late 1970's, after working for the State of Maine, he left with his family to pursue opportunities in the the City of Detroit. There he had a very successful career working on notable engineering project for the Water and Sewage Dept. His efforts help to put over 10 billion dollars of new construction in place. After almost 32 years with the City of Detroit's Water and Sewage Dept, he retired in 2011. He still lives in Detroit with his wife, Mary Ann. Show less «
