Champion freestyle swimmer Johanna "Jopie" Katarina Selbach was born on July 27, 1918 in Haarlem, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. Selbach won gold medals in the women's 4 x 100 meters freestyle relay at both the 1934 European Aquatics Championships and the 1936 Olympic games held in Berlin, Germany.
