Joe received rave reviews for IFC Midnight's 2019 horror film 'Pledge.' Of his performance, Alice Field, a critic from Ready Steady Cut noted, "Some have highlighted Cowperthwaite and Byrd as the actors of note; but for me, the one who is most in my mind now, two days after watching is Joe Gallagher, who played Ben, an additional pledge to the main group."In the spring of 2019 Gallagher reportedly stepped away from acting to pursue other interests in the fields of business development, finance, politics, and data analytics.In 2020, Gallagher began producing independent films, joining his colleagues from 'Pledge' at Stag Pictures.In 2021, Gallagher teamed with Zack Weiner to found the Manhattan Movie Studio. MMS's first production 'The Workshop' wrapped principal photography in April 2022. Gallagher serves an executive role at the company while leading physical production.During this period he has returned to acting to star in two indie feature films, an untitled comedy directed by Daniel Robbins ('Pledge') and 'Abject', a horror film from award winning Buffalo filmmaker David R.
