JoAnna Rhambo has always had a love affair with acting. She studied acting, singing and dance (modern, jazz, African) in her adolescence, however acting is what stole her heart. She began to sharpen her acting and improv skills by doing theater as she felt it was the best bootcamp for actors. Showcasing herself as an actress who dances and sings she performed in the musical stage production of 'Chicago Club Rumboogie' (written by the late Jerry Jones -'Dolemite') which went on to win multiple NAACP Theater awards. She also graced the stage in several colourful productions including 'The Colored Museum', 'Long Time Since Yesterday' and the wildly popular and racy, DON B.WELCH production of 'Fightclub'.With a strong desire to expand and transition into film and television she narrowed her focus and soon thereafter began booking television shows / films such as 'Grey's Anatomy' (ABC), 'Ride Along' (Universal Pictures), 'Takers' (Sony Screen Gems), 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (ABC), 'Women On Death Row' (WE TV) etc.As a hands on way of truly being well versed with the full spectrum of the entertainment industry, she decided to work in several different positions behind the scenes including casting, script supervisor and assistant director. In 2011, she started her own production company, Hazel Honey Films. The inaugural film 'Solstice' (which she wrote, produced and stars in) debuted at the 2013 Pan African Film Festival to a sold out audience where it was coined 'a powerful must see' film. It has since made it's way across the USA to several prominent film festivals.Ms. Rhambo's motto is "Save Room for Surprises" and she certainly continues to do just that in her career. Show less «
