Jo Southwell is a British / Irish actress who began her performing career at a very young age. From school productions of Aladdin to producing sketch comedy shows for local theatre she was always destined for this industry.As a child she attend Redroofs Theatre School and gained experience as a featured extra in many British Films including John Booremans "Hope and Glory."She attended Leeds University where she gained a degree in Theology and Media - relishing the opportunity to write a dissertation about science fiction films, in particular the Star Wars Trilogy. Whilst at University she worked along side the Northern School for Film and Television as a runner and production assistant.After her backpacking days, Jo began working with an Agent in Ireland (where her family are based) and travelled to LA to experience the industry in America. She returned to the UK with several awards for "Best Comedy Monologue" and "Female Actress."Jo returned to Redroofs Film and TV School to complete a Post Graduate in Screen Acting.Since graduating from this course, Jo has been working as an actress, producer and agent; in the belief that a knowledge of the industry as a whole will established good foundations for future success.Being cast as Medea in Bash was the beginning of a series of successful London plays which led to her role as Millie in Eight. A versatile, emotional and intelligent actress; Jo is looking for more gritty police types; blonde comedy types and slightly unhinged female roles. With a strong look which could also lend itself to period pieces or professional roles.Jo is the founder of The Henley Fringe Trust - a charity established to provide professional performers with a unique theatre opportunity whilst giving young actors a taste of what is to come.
