A film scholar with a PhD, he has taught film study and film history at colleges and universities, including Tulane, and has recently contributed articles to the new film encyclopedia, "Movies in American History," with the entries on Marlon Brando, Fred Astaire, "East of Eden" and "The Magnificent Ambersons."
