His name is John Wesley Wilson Jr., but for performance purposes he goes by his stage name JD Wesley (John David Wesley). The name John David (JD) is a tribute to both his father (John Sr., living) and his grandfather (David; deceased). He has been singing publicly for 30+ yrs. He started his journey at the age of four within his father's church Bethlehem Baptist in the Charleston, SC area. He marched and played the trumpet in the International Institution of Sound (IIOS) Marching Band; he sang 1st Tenor with the world renowned concert choir at Johnson C. Smith University. He majored in Vocal Performance. JD got together with former college musicians and singers and launched the band known as "The Company". In 2007 JD co-wrote with the band manager Hanock Hickman, "A Song for Music" on their debut album "Daybreak"! JD has performed with various Gospel artist such as; Tamala and David Mann (From the Tyler Perry Hit Plays & TV Series), Patrick Love, Kathy Taylor Brown, and Donald Lawrence. As well as the legendary R&B group Dennis Edwards & The Temptations Review just to name a few. JD is a member of the 90's boy band SOLO. The groups' 2015 singles "Gone" & "MF Keeper" have put them back on the map and re-launched their careers in an every changing entertainment industry. His affiliations with the group afforded him the opportunity to sing happy birthday to the funk diva herself Chaka Khan, March of 2013 in NYC. In the fall of 2016 SOLO received the "2016 Lifetime Achievement Award" from Voice Distributions & The Sessoms Group. The multi-talented JD has also stepped into the art of theater acting. Co-starring as the legendary Louie "Satchmo" Armstrong in his forth off-Broadway production entitled "Angie Jackson the Musical". His networking has generated connections with major and independent labels such as Midtown Radio & Records Inc., Premier Entertainment Group, Universal/Motown/SRC Records, Def Jam, & Good Thyme Click/Maxa Music Group! Recently, in 2018 JD has re-launched his acting career crossing over into TV/Film/Commercial/Editorial/Print. Making TV appearances as a Background/Extra in the Marvel/Netflix Original Series - DareDevil, the FX Original Series - POSE and the Showtime action/drama series Ray Donovan. He has embarked upon numerous collaborations with different Hip Hop/R&B artist in the USA as well as France, Africa, and Germany.
