For JB Benn, entertaining has never been about the flash or the hype. He has always relied on his talents and abilities to gain recognition.You can say Benn's passion for magic began in 1991. A sixteen-year-old looking for something to do, JB Benn stumbled into a random restaurant in New York called Gramercy Park. He performed a multitude of card and coin tricks and happened to catch the eyes of Car's frontman Rick Ocasek and his wife Paulina Porizkova. It was then that his passion for entertaining began shifting towards a more lucrative career. JB Benn continued to practice his craft and, five years later, was becoming a fast favorite to local New Yorkers. He didn't have to choose random restaurants or locations to show off his skills, he was now being hired to perform at corporate events and private parties.Soon enough, JB Benn was performing for a prestigious group of loyal clientele, even, eventually, royalty. Notable figures like Warren Buffet, Bono, and Mary Tyler Moore and corporate clients such as Google, HBO, and Rolling Stone were just a few of the clients on his list. In 2013, he starred in a new series for the Travel Channel called Magic Man. For the show, Benn traveled around the world and performed illusions for both locals and tourists.JB Benn also co-hosted two shows with Chris Korn. Mondo Magic aired on A&E and was filmed in the United States, Singapore, and Canada, and Magic Asia aired on AXN and took place in Mumbai, India. During an interview right after the premier of Mondo Magic, Benn said that it's his love for "bringing out the child-like reaction in adults" that fuels his passion. A few of his special appearances include Late Night with Conan O'Brien, an NBC special called The Royal Family of Monaco, and starring alongside Harrison Ford in Paramount Picture's Sabrina.In addition to his on-screen time, JB Benn has also entertained celebrities and guests at Vanity Fair's Oscar Party for over five years, as well as many Golden Globe after-parties. Various publications have written about his artistry, including Vanity Fair and Vogue.Benn's love of exploring extends far beyond traveling for work. In his free time, he also likes to adventure to all corners of the world, preferring to visit the unique, remote places that other travelers may not think to put on their lists. Some of his other passions and hobbies include art, art history, and ancient history. JB Benn has also taken courses through the Boulder Outdoor Survival School (BOSS), a wilderness school where he's learned about primitive survival skills. Among his head instructors is Cat Bigney, who was a survival expert on The Great Human Race on National Geographic.Benn prefers living in the woods to his apartment in the city, but his home base is still New York.
