It was 1989 when a one-eyed, one-horned flying Purple People Eater appeared on the stage of Dunnville Central School. The unique and small voice of Janine Parkinson sang "I wanna get a job in a Rock N' Roll band." Fortunately, Janine did not run off to join a rock band but landed herself into the exciting world of film and television. After playing a maid in "Annie with a Twist" and crashing the "Grand Ol' Opry" as an Indigenous person she quickly realized she had a love for performance. Leaving home at an early age, Janine joined the Second City Toronto as a receptionist and a student performer. Given the chance to go through all the levels and perform in a Conservatory Show, Janine has worked with some of today's hottest comedic actors and even professional athletes such as Tie Domi. She contributed her can do attitude behind the scenes as a Scenic Artist and as assisted on CBC productions as well as producing and building a strong video presence for brands such Maclean's magazine, and CNW Group. For her efforts, Janine has won numerous awards in production as well as amateur sport. A student first, Janine is dedicated to study in martial arts. She has competed and won at Provincial and National levels, qualifying as a Team Canada member for the World Escrima Kali Arnis Federation. In between performing defying action sequences as a stunt performer for film and tv, Janine teaches Tai Chi and Filipino Martial Arts for Self Defence. She has been a regular speaker at film festivals, sports clubs and police associations. She may be small but her presence, sense of humour and unique voice make her unforgettable.
