One of four siblings, Jan was born and grew up on an old farm on the coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom, to an American mother and British father; of primarily Greek, Russian, Scottish, and Eastern European descent.Jan performed card magic growing up, and he started playing the guitar when he was around nine years old. He pursued music and theatre in college and progressed to London where he landed a competitive audition to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood. After earning his degree in Theatre and many subsequent performances, he was spotted by an agent during a performance of Noel Coward's Present Laughter, directed by Ian Ogilvy.He has since participated in several television and film roles including his portrayal of renowned artist Isamu Noguchi opposite Emily Mortimer and Christina Hendricks in Leonie (2010), a USA / Japan produced biopic based on the remarkable true story of Leonie Gilmour. As a musician Jan has performed at many venues, including the Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles, and he plays at an advanced level.Jan is also a professional photographer and designer. His creative work has appeared in numerous publications including NY Times, Vogue, and National Geographic Traveller. Jan held the position of Vice President for many years at a successful American company. He also lived in Central Europe for a few years and began work on his own company, donating a percentage of proceeds to environmental causes.Jan loves learning and challenging himself, ready to take risks in pursuit of greater humility and a better person. He loves science, the outdoors, travelling, exploring nature; surfing, skiing, mountain biking and running daily... and happy to admit he's a health food fanatic.
