James' first production was an 8mm movie about rolling a giant laminated cardboard apple with a bite out of it, off the 86 stairs leading down the cliff into Capitola Village. In mid production, the giant apple woke up a twenty something young man sleeping in a Bentley in the theatre parking lot, who jumped out yelling and grabbed the giant apple, threw it into his Bentley and drove off. Later when the first Apple computer came out with a picture of Jobs and Wosniak, we all agreed one of the Steve's was our 'giant apple', homeless Bentley driving thief.Born James Frederick Gregory in Denville, NJ on October 12, 1957, six months later he moved with his family to Albuquerque, NM. After two years there, it was off to Danville, CA in San Francisco's east bay area. In the late sixties, at eleven years old a lateral move to an at the time rundown beach town of Capitola, CA. Growing up a surfer, track star and dirt biker to wanna be biker James navigated adolescence haphazardly. Surviving high school James went on to commercial fishing, graduating from this deadly industry 15 years later. Carpenter, pipe-fitter, iron worker are a few of the trades James dabbled in.James first big money-making production was a training video for commercial fisherman, the acclaimed 1990 release of "Highliner Netmending". Complete with animations created on an old Amiga computer, James also wrote, designed the sets, acted as cameraman, did the voice-overs, and edited on two 8mm video decks. Definitely cutting edge equipment for it's day.(2018) Currently, James is acting and doing Jack Nicholson impersonations in Hollywood, while creating a variety style cooking show. Show less «
