Growing up in Victoria, Jake Kelly was a part of a talented football family. His father Craig was a Premiership player with Collingwood and younger brother Will was selected by Collingwood in 2018 as a father-son pick. Kelly was a 2014 rookie draft pick for Adelaide and the hard-running defender made his AFL debut in 2015, playing 10 games. Over his first two seasons he established a starting role in the best-22 on the back of effective ball use and intercept ability. A regular in Adelaide's senior side, he helped Adelaide to a Grand Final appearance in 2017. Kelly is well-known for his endurance, intercept ability and effective ball use.
