Jake Horowitz is a Toronto-based writer, producer, and director. As a past recipient of the Banff Media Writer's Apprentice award, Jake got his start in Canadian TV in the writer's room of CTV's Spun Out. He has developed various shows both for television and the web, and his work in television and film has been recognized by the Austin Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, FIN Atlantic International Film Festival, and others. As a writer, director, and producer, Jake has completed several short films, including the half-scripted, half-documentary One Man's Trash. In 2018 Jake wrote, directed, and produced his debut comedy feature, the anti-rom-com Who You Know, starring David Hewlett, Dylan Everett, Niamh Wilson, and Stephen Joffe. As of 2019 Jake and his company Sideways Dog Productions is in development on two TV series and Jake's next feature, a dark comedy road trip film called No Connection. In addition to his filmmaking and producing, Jake has won awards for his stand-up comedy and is the author of several short stories which have been published in various acclaimed international anthologies. He holds a Bachelor degree in Journalism from Ryerson University and a Master's in Creative Writing from the University of Roehampton in London, UK.
