Jaffar Smith is originally from Lacey, Washington. He started dancing at a young age, studying Tap, Jazz, and Gymnastics. After high school, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and started his hip hop training with Culture Shock Las Vegas under the direction of Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo. After leaving Las Vegas, he moved to San Diego where he contributed to the success of Urban FX. Soon after, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue the commercial choreography industry, where he has danced with artists such as: 3LW, Brandy Norwood, Ashanti, JoJo, Mariah Carey, Omarion; and has toured with such artists as Solange, MC Hammer, and The Cheetah Girls, to name a few. Beyond his dance credits, he is a motivating and inspiring instructor. Jaffar's talent expands to his choreography which is extremely clever in its musicality and movement. He has choreographed for numerous professional hip hop dance companies in the United States and abroad. He currently teaches at The Movement Lifestyle Studio, Millennium Dance Complex, and Kinjaz Dojo in Los Angeles, California. His personality, style, and personal flare make his choreography and class a treat to both take and watch for education. His knowledge and talents transcends to multiple levels of entertaining. It is because of this that Jaffar founded JaPHONIC Productions, a company that encompasses all areas of entertainment. He believes that tapping fully into your creativity will always make you a better overall performer, and applies this principal to himself whether stage acting, choreographing or producing music. His unique combination of the genuine love of people and unwavering passion for his art is why students have traveled from all over the world to learn from him.
