Jaco was born and bred in Johannesburg, South Africa and has been running around frantically on the assembly hall stage since preschool.After school he studied Audiovisual Production Management with Communication at the University of Johannesburg and kept his acting bug alive by performing for the UJ Arts Academy. He graduated in 2004.Jaco decided to further his studies and obtained a BA(hons) degree in Drama with Film and Directing from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2005. It was in this year that he also met and signed with his agent.Jaco has been acting professionally since 2006 and apart from film, television and the voice-over booth, he still enjoys running up and down the planks of the stage.As a director, he directs music videos and short-form content for a variety of broadcast and corporate clients. In 2016 he started working with Birthmark - a brand and design agency in Johannesburg. He has written and directed a multitude of television promos for their clients in South Africa and other parts of the continent. He been involved in the launch and re-brands of a variety of channels in Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania. Amongst others, clients include Kyknet & kie, BBC Lifestyle, Africa Magic, Zambezi Magic, Jango Magic, Maisha Magic East, Maisha Magic Bongo, DStv BoxOffice, DStv Catchup, DStv NOW and OneZed.As a musician, Jaco enjoys playing his bass guitar on a session basis. He has written, produced and collaborated with a number of South African groups and artists. These include Mosaiek, Godfirst, Steyn & TABO, Kaleidoskoop, SnS, 8Bit Stereo and Peter Break My Fall.
