Jaclyn Bethany, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, made her New York acting debut in A Map of Virtue directed by Tony Winner Pam MacKinnon. Jaclyn has performed with theatre companies such as the Berkshire Theatre Festival and the Powerhouse Theatre. Internationally, she has trained extensively in London at RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, BADA and The National Theatre. Jaclyn is a graduate of Fordham University's theatre program. Her company's first theatre production Drama in The Afternoon was performed Off-Broadway. A compilation of Tennessee Williams plays, Jaclyn played the role of Alma opposite James Alan McCune (Shameless, Blair Witch).Jaclyn's interest in film began in 2011 when she interned at the Sydney Film Festival. She is the founder of Mississippi based production company BKE Productions. Jaclyn made her screen debut in Get on Up (dir. Tate Taylor). Following this experience, Jaclyn wrote and produced the short film Olivia Martha Ilse. She plays Martha alongside James Frain, Emmy award winner Tammy Blanchard and Tonea Stewart. The short premiered in 2015 at Berlinale/EFM, followed by market participation at Cannes Film Festival and Palm Springs Shortfest. The film was also in completion at The Crossroads Film Festival and Mykonos Biennale. She wrote and produced her second short film, Dear Annabel in August 2015, in which she also starred.Jaclyn's feature film credits include roles in Trumbo, I Saw The Light, Worry Dolls, and a supporting role in Miles with Molly Shannon and Paul Reiser, among lead roles in several short films. An accomplished writer, Jaclyn's holds an M.A. in Screenwriting from the London Film School. Her work has been developed with the BFI and her upcoming feature film was selected and pitched/developed at the Cannes and Edinburgh Film Festivals.Her directing credits include the Award winning short Between Departures (2016), which screened at festivals worldwide. She has also written and directed the short films Schoolgirls (2016) starring Lauren McCrostie (Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children), Sunday Tide (2016), and In: Transit (2017), all of which have screened internationally.Jaclyn is currently a directing fellow at the American Film Institute. She is also the founder/co-editor of women in the arts publication Constellation, which features creative women from around the globe.
