One of the most well- respected anchor/reporters in the history of Boston broadcasting, Jack Hynes, the son of the late Boston mayor John Hynes, was a longtime television news anchor in Boston and a fixture in the community. After graduating with a journalism degree from Notre Dame in 1952, he served two years in the Marine Corps before beginning his long career in television.His first job was as a staff announcer at WNUD-TV in South Bend, Indiana (1954-1956), but in 1956 he returned to home in Boston for a job as a radio and television reporter at WBZ-TV/AM, and worked in Boston for the rest of his career. His work as a reporter took him to WHDH-TV (1957-1972), WCVB-TV (1972-1984), and WLVI-TV (1984-2006). He covered many of the major Boston area stories of the time, including the Kennedy Assassination, the Vietnam War, and the Boston busing crisis. Show less «
