Ilana Turner was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. For work, she acts, writes and teaches Pilates.As an actress, Ilana has been in sketch comedy pilots for Sci Fi Channel and Spike TV and on HBO's "Big Love." She starred in the short film The Red Ace Cola Project, which was a BAFTA/LA finalist. The Red Ace Cola Project was then shown at many festivals, including WOW (in Sydney, Australia, where Ilana has not yet been.) On stage, she had a leading role in the world premiere of Vertical Commute at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In Los Angeles, Ilana performed in Suzan-Lori Parks' 365 Plays for 365 Days (Circle X Theatre Co & CTG). A founding member of i.O. West-based long form improv team, Bobby Hot Stuff, she has also performed at Upright Citizens' Brigade and at Second City. She has also appeared in television and print advertisements.Ilana has written for Elle magazine's E. Jean Carroll and for Turner Broadcasting. She has also written technical articles on figure skating and Pilates for trade publications. The first play Ilana wrote, The Rejane Project. tells the story of Belle Epoque comedienne extraordinaire Rejane, from humble to haute, using text, movement, music and the plays that made her famous. Rejane's struggle to balance both the Boulevard and the backyard is one simultaneously age-old and contemporary. After four years of research, The Rejane Project is in development.A former professional figure skater, coach, and trained dancer who attended circus school, Ilana brings a unique and creative approach to her work teaching Pilates at her studio, Gud Belly. She specializes in working with actors to strengthen their bodies without hurting their voices. Her degree is in theatre & dance from Hampshire College and her Pilates certifications are from ITT Pilates and The Physicalmind Institute. She lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband, daughter and porky cat.
