Dr. Ianthe Marini is a professional Actress, Conductor, and Academician. She is the Associate Producer and Film Score conductor for Realm Pictures International and has appeared in a Blockbuster film with DC comics. Trained in dramatic acting, she has starred as the lead in a number of independent films, including "Drinking Problem" (directed by Benjiman Dallas Redding), "A Room of One's Own" (directed by Caroline White), and "Second Sight" (directed by Cole Hamilton). An experienced stage actor and trained dancer, she has an extensive stage resume, including the leading roles in "West Side Story" (Anita) for which she was recognized as Best Actress in a Musical through Boston Broadway Awards, "Gypsy" (Mama Rose), "Drinking Problem" (Renny), "Into the Woods" (The Witch), "Chicago" (Veronica/Kitty), The Experience Project at the ART, Cambridge (Dancer), "Evita" (Pit Conductor).She has her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Conducting and is known for her work as The Paul S. and Jean R. Amos Distinguished Chair for Choral Activities at the world-renowned Schwob School of Music conservatory at Columbus State University. She was the winner of The American Prize in Conducting (2019) and has been invited to conduct at Carnegie Hall (NYC) and has prepared choruses for The Kennedy Center (DC), Meyerhoff Hall (Baltimore, MD) and Carnegie Hall. Her writing is published in "The Choral Conductor's Companion" and "The Journal of Singing".Dr. Marini has been recognized for her work with complex, troubled, complicated characters who are inherently flawed. She speaks Greek and is trained and conversational in the following accents: Boston, Irish Brogue, Puerto Rican, Italian, Greek, British (general), Cockney. She has been praised for her consistency and accuracy with accents and has worked as a coach for both the Boston and Irish accents. She is trained in dancing (jazz, modern, Fosse, tap) and remains an avid dancer and swimmer. She is a classically trained mezzo soprano, flutist, and pianist and specializes in the choral music of the Baroque era.She achieved her Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Maryland where she was the recipient of The Pomeroy Prize (the sole Graduate Award in the School of Music), her Master of Music (MM) from Temple University where she was the recipient of the Elaine Brown Memorial Award for Community Engagement and the Helen Laird Scholarship for excellence in academia, and her Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University, where she was the recipient of the Creative Achievement Award and the Flute Performance Scholarship.She is originally from Boston and Cape Cod, MA.
