A proud Texas native, Hershey Wingler was born and raised in Houston, daughter of a professional golfer and gambler, Herschell, and a legal secretary, Doreen. Though not all stereotypes are true, Hershey can ride a horse, shoot a gun, and she loves a great pair of cowboy boots.Hershey's love for all things performance was sparked as a young child. She was singing at local country bars at the age of four, started taking ballet and tap in kindergarten, and got her first leading role in an original musical in elementary school. From junior high to high school, Hershey expanded her love for the arts by learning to play the clarinet. With the ability to read music, she left band in high school and joined choir in addition to continuing to act in the theatre and dance on drill team.Growing up with two athletic older brothers and a dad who was all-state in basketball, it made sense that Hershey would also have a love for sports. She was a cheerleader, played basketball, and also studied martial arts for several years. Her love for athletics was reignited upon her move to LA when she was selected for a challenge group infomercial for Beachbody. After being featured, Hershey became a fanatic for the challenging activity of cross-training like used in Insanity, Insanity: The Asylum, and T25.Hershey graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Musical Theatre from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. In addition to having the opportunity to play some amazing acting roles, some requiring extensive Slavic, British, and Irish dialect work, she was also able to continue to train her singing voice and expand her dance knowledge. Outside of the theatre department, she worked on writing. She wrote children's plays and directed them as a service to the kids of the community. Hershey's creativity paid off when she won writing award her senior year, her English professor urging her to change her major to writing.A big believer in challenging oneself and all things DIY... Hershey does her own nails, trims her own hair, has laid laminate wood floor, built lighting fixtures, and is starting to make her own candles with her husband of more than five years, Christopher. She's challenging herself right now by learning to play guitar and revisiting her Spanish lessons, hoping to become fluent. In her free time, Hershey is an avid reader always looking for her next book, and she also loves to cook, usually something spicy.Nowadays, Hershey is the type of gal whose "uniform" routinely consists of a well-fitting jean, t-shirt, and one of her many favorite pairs of shoes or boots. You can see her performing weekly in Hollywood with one or more of her three improv teams, usually at her Alma Mater of iO West. When necessary, she'll use her experiences at her previous day job (Talent Development for Hulu for two years, ballroom dance teacher, and date entry specialist) to ground her characters and further her acting career.
