The moments when I'm in front of a camera or on stage and I'm fully embodying a character, so completely oblivious to anything outside that bubble of what is being created in that moment...those inspired, special glimpses of magic between myself and another actor that come alive and can never be repeated exactly the same way again...firing on all cylinders... it's so fulfilling. And then finding out that it really moved somebody. That's an awesome feeling. Show less «

[When asked to name favorite books] I'm a book nerd, so I have trouble choosing. When pressed to name my favorite novelist in conversation, I say F. Scott Fitzgerald, for his mastery of being descriptively succinct (or succinctly descriptive). It also works as a tongue twister. Show less «

[on inspiration] I find inspiration in a broad range of things. On a large scale, I'm inspired by people who never give up on what they believe in. People whose actions have manifested change in the world for the better. But I can also be inspired by something as seemingly mundane as the beauty of an autumn leaf or a kind smile. Anything that brings me into contact with what's real. Show less «

My goal as an actor is to leave behind something that affects people's lives and teaches them something about the human condition and our time in history. Throughout time, artists have left behind a legacy of work that has informed a good deal of what we learn about the history of our world...poets, musicians, painters, sculptors, playwrights, etc. And now filmmakers. As an actor, I believe in doing work that matters and that resonates in people's minds and hearts; giving them a gift to keep. Show less «

Filmmakers have a great opportunity to let future generations know what it was like for us; and in this moment to teach, inspire, connect and even just entertain. In the same way that a teacher shares knowledge and a doctor heals...for an actor and filmmaker, films are our contribution. It's a sweet responsibility. Show less «
