With over ten years of professional performing experience under his belt, Hal has been driven by his ardent need for artistic expression that propels him in his acting career. His passion for film, inspired by the magic of affecting people's hearts in movie theatres, has been the main force that fuels his journey as an artist.Hal, currently residing in Vancouver, has many credits as the lead and has been blessed with opportunities to play an eclectic range of characters, having no qualms transforming from the romantic lead to a murderer with a conscience, or from a struggling artist to King Herod in Salome, which has been his favorite role so far. He often plays the juicy part of bad guys, possibly because of the permanently guilty look hanging on his face.Michael Chekhov, especially his book "To The Actor," has been a great inspiration for Hal who found resonance in Chekhov's philosophies that instilled confidence into his own work and his intuitive choice to work organically instead of intellectually. Although a professional actor, Hal's fascination with the process of acting and his commitment to the highest integrity as a virtuoso motivates him to continue working on his craft and is currently studying with Shea Hampton. Before discovering the actor in him, he was a professional musician whose Alternative Rock band "Human" enthralled thousands of fans across Canada. Hal toured with his band nationally, from Toronto to Montreal, Winnipeg to Halifax, and everywhere in between. He has worked with some of the top personalities in the music industry. In 2003 the group was awarded the 2003 East Coast Music Award for Rock Artist of the Year and was also nominated for the, 2003 MIANS, Galaxy Rising Star Award. With a publishing deal in place, the group distributed 110,000 copies of their debut single as well as having three singles in the Top 20. To Hal, a song has a soul that is intangible and cannot be grasped intellectually, carrying in the sounds and words a power that touches people's spirit-the same power found in acting. Thus when Hal reads a script, he always looks for the music in it.Born in Istanbul, Turkey and raised in Halifax, Canada, Hal proficiently speaks both languages with no accent and embodies both the genuine Canadian sentiment as well as an international spirit. His love for traveling has brought him to spend each New Years Eve in a different locale, and this upcoming New Years Eve you can expect to see Hal enter 2008 at the great pyramids in Cairo, Egypt.
