George Luis Contreras was born in East Los Angeles, the eighth child in a family of nine. His father, Cruz Contreras, came to the United States as a migrant worker from a small "rancho" in Sianore de Topia, Durango, Mexico in 1969 in search of a better life... the American dream. Shortly after, his mother, Florina Contreras de Martinez, came to join Cruz in East LA where they began their new life. The early years of George's childhood were lived in East LA, then in 1988, at around the time he had to start school, his family moved to West Covina, where he was enrolled at Merced Elementary school. He graduated from West Covina High school in 2000 and attended Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut and obtained his Associates degree. After high school, while attending Mt. Sac, George started his career as a fashion model which eventually led him to acting. After completing his transfer requirements and obtaining his AA degree, George decided to take time off from school and enrolled at a Conservatory for Acting where he studied for two years with Laura Henry in Santa Monica, Ca. After that he jumped from class to class trying to gain experience from as many teachers as possible.
