Gary Evans was born on June 18, 1964 in Warren, Ohio as Joseph Michael Barnot, Jr.. He relocated to San Francisco as a senior in high school. Upon an early graduation from John Adams HS, where he was Class Valedictorian, he changed his name to Gary Michael Evans. "Gary" derived from a bus driver who befriended him so he didn't have to hitch hike to his 1st of two part time jobs while in HS in Ohio. "Michael", switching the name from his paternal Grandpa Barnot, to his Godfather, Michael "Red" Pennick. He took the last name of "Evans" to honor,his Grandma Evans, who raised him. He would later give his first two names to his two sons as middle names, to give them biblical protection, and to also ensure their own identities. From there, he moved to New York in June of 1983, where Gary made his acting debut later that fall,in the Rendezvous Theatre Company's production of Robert Perring's ,"Trade". He spent the remainder of the 1980's doing Off-Off Broadway plays, including running his own Theatre Company, Sweatshirt Stage, with Pete Gailey & their friends, where he produced several of his and Pete's plays. Gary made his Off-Broadway debut in 1990 at Playhouse 91, in Sean Burke and Steve Nelson's, "The Grand Guignol", directed by award winning director, Michael Hillyer.. Gary spent the 1990's doing several short films, starting with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's, "Minimum Wage". In 2014,Gary founded Gemini Sunz Productions, where he currently serves as an Executive Producer.
