Francis González was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in the small fishing town of Fajardo. Being an entertainer from a very early age, Francis received the Jerry Lewis Impersonator award issued by his elementary school. He was both an actor and set designer on many school plays. While studying Microbiology in The University of Puerto Rico he was approached by the owner of the male pageant Misters of Puerto, Rueben Diaz. After entering, Gonzalez won the title of "Mister Puerto Rico Model", and later became the first Puerto Rican to acquire the international title of "Mr. Mundial". During this time he appeared in many TV commercials and finally caught the acting bug. He played the leading part of Colombia in the feature film "Coplas" (shot in Ponce, Puerto Rico), and Alejandro in Telemundo Puerto Rico's Teen soap "Zona Y".
