Other members of the Northern Cree Singers are Leroy Brown, Aaron McGilvery, Ian Scout, Jonas Poundmaker, Shane Dion, Bill Cardinal, Stoney Whiskeyjack, Steve Wood, Charlie Wood, Randy Wood.The Northern Cree Singers were nominated for the 2002 Grammy Awards in the Native American Music Category for their album 'Rockin' the Rez' (Canyon Records). Northern Cree is a championship Northern style pow-wow group hailing from the Saddle Lake Reserve in Alberta, Canada. The drum group has performed for over ten years together. Northern Cree is known for their original song making abilities and is also in demand as a host drum.The energy of Rockin' The Rez shows why Northern Cree is a perennial favorite throughout the pow-wow world. Northern Cree has released eighteen albums for Canyon Records of Phoenix, Arizona. Their eighth album, "Recorded Live at Lummi", was nominated for a Juno Award in 1996 and was a finalist for "Best Native North American Album" by the Association for Independent Music (AFIM). Their ninth album, "Dance Hard", was a finalist for "Pow-Wow Album of the Year" at the first Native American Music Awards in 1998. Their twelfth album, "It's Time To Round Dance", was nominated for "Best Pow-Wow Recording" at the second Native American Music Awards in 1999.Northern Cree has contributed music to the CBC for a documentary on the Healing Center, to the Alberta Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission for a documentary and in 1999 provided music and appeared onscreen in the major theatrical film, Grey Owl (1999) with Pierce Brosnan.
