Ella is a film director born and based in London. Ella began her career as a professional actress before studying at Cambridge University. After graduating with a double first class degree in History, she moved into film and television Development as an Executive for Bonafide Films, and more recently as a Freelance Script Editor working with award-winning writers such as Gwyneth Hughes and Peter Moffat. Ella made her first foray into directing with a short film trilogy of re-imagined fairy tales, including 'The Ugly Duckling', starring Thomas Sangster (Game of Thrones, The Maze Runner), which won 'Festival Favourite' at Palm Springs Gay and Lesbian Festival. She has since gone on to make 'International Men's Day', a feminist comedy short set in a parallel world and narrated by Sue Perkins, and 'Foot in Mouth' a short revenge comedy, which recently screened at Phoenix Film Festival. She has just completed 'Sarah Chong is Going to Kill Herself', commissioned by Creative England's 'Funny Girls' scheme, as part of the BFI Network, in association with Big Talk Films and Baby Cow Productions, for which she was mentored by Paul King (Paddington, The Mighty Boosh) and Peter Straughan (Wolf Hall, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) Sarah Chong recently premiered at the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival and is soon to screen at the Cambridge Film Festival.
