After a long career on stage and film, in New York and Hollywood, Dorothy Tree, as Dorothy Uris, had a second career, as a speech and voice coach at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, privately, and teaching speech and acting at the Mannes College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. She was the author of "Everybody's Book of Better Speaking", "A Woman's Voice" and "To Sing in English", a classic text still in print and still used by teachers of speech and voice. Show less «
