Doreen Spicer is an American writer, producer and director. As a bright-eyed, native New Yorker, Spicer relocated to Los Angeles with dreams of filling voids and creating special projects and has found some success.Doreen produced a tween show called, The Wannabes, starring the musical act Savvy. The series, follows 6 teens, who want to be pop stars debuted in Australia, March 2010. The show has been licensed internationally in over 100 countries, including HBO Latin America & Asia, Germany's Super RTL, ABC3 Australia, Austria, NOGA Israel, Turkey, The Netherlands and more, and will begin airing in the U.S.A. on Starz Network 2011. In addition to writing and producing "The Wannabes", Doreen is also developing a feature film, Forever My Lady, based on the urban Latino novel (Warner Books) by Jeff Rivera.In 2007, Spicer developed and wrote the musically driven-film, Jump In!, which broke a Disney Channel record with 8.2 million viewers. The film, which was nominated for a Humanitas Prize, stars Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee) and Corbin Bleu (High School Musical) and exposes the world-renowned sport of double-dutch.After producing and developing Disney Channel's highly acclaimed animated series, The Proud Family. Doreen lent her fresh perspective and Puerto Rican heritage to create another animated series, Coqui Loco. The pilot featured Rosie Perez as a rambunctious Puerto Rican frog desperately seeking fame.Doreen began her career as a writer's intern on the popular ABC sitcom, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, which led to a permanent position as a production assistant. Just a year later, she entered the Writer's Guild with her first writing credit on Fox's, Martin. Doreen continued to hone her craft as a writer's assistant on The Cosbys and The Jamie Foxx Show, and as executive assistant on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She established herself as a talented writer and secured a position as staff writer on the NBC sitcom, Built to Last.Having established credits in all three areas, television, animation and film, Doreen Spicer is continually developing flavorful projects in family entertainment under the auspices of her company, Spicerack Productions.
