Don was an accomplished Actor/Stuntman, Writer, Musician, Operatic Tenor and Athlete, who worked as a child in many films including those of Laurel and Hardy, before joining the US Marine Corps to serve in World War II. Don was a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Marines and was awarded medals for his heroism during WWII, as well as a Purple Heart for a severe head injury he sustained during a battle in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific against the Imperial Japanese Army. After his time in the military, Don returned to show business, becoming a Hollywood stunt man/actor, making several westerns with John Wayne and John Ford. He fathered a daughter, Anastasia Summers, who also worked in show business. Don (born MacDonald C. Summers) is buried at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Show less «
