Don graduated UCLA's film school in 1984, where he not only acquired a following for his weekly humor column in the UCLA Daily Bruin newspaper as both a student and alumnus, but also co-authored the UCLA fight song which was officially inaugurated in the Fall of 1984. In 1989 Don sold a Cop Buddy Lampoon to Walt Disney Pictures which not long thereafter became New Line Cinema's cult classic, "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1."
