Diana Popovska was born in Skopje, Macedonia. She immigrated to Australia with her parents at the age of two. Diana grew up in South-West Sydney, amongst a diverse group of blue collar workers and immigrants. Diana identifies as queer and ensures that in her creative work she is always pushing forward queer stories, which represent her community in nuanced and truthful ways.Diana has trained with world class-coaches such as Chekov and Shakespeare mastermind, Anya Saffir and founding member of Siti Company, Kelly Maurer, as well as being mentored by Baz Luhrmann and Miranda Tapsell, whilst leading the film, 'The Pilgrim Report'.As an actor Diana has performed onstage opposite 'Black Mirror' star Brenna Harding in a sold out season of 'The Gulf' and 'Wentworth' heart throb, Zoe Terakes in the award winning 'Metamorphoses'. On screen Diana has worked with powerhouse director, Leticia Caceres on the highly acclaimed TV series 'BUMP', as well as an Australian star studded cast in 'RAKE' . Diana made her feature film debut in Nik Kacevski's unapologetically bloody, 'Skinford'.As a filmmaker, Diana has worked with Blunt Gorilla Production House and GoodStyle Productions. Diana has written and directed several short films and the award-winning short documentary, 'What Are We If Different', as well as releasing, 'PLANS', a seven-episode web-series, which she wrote, directed, produced and starred in.Diana runs queer independent theatre company LUME productions with fellow collaborators Brenna Harding and Mia Lethbridge.In 2021 Diana was chosen as a studio artist for Griffin Theatre Company, where she is currently writing her first full-length theatre play, 'Moeto Srce'.
