Dewi Evita Reijs is an actress, writer and director graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. She works in theatre, film and television.Dewi was born and raised in Rotterdam. On the age of eighteen she moved to Amsterdam to study at the drama academy. She starts with acting as a child at Youth Theatre Hofplein. One of her first serious parts is Lize in Nobody's Boy ("Sans famille") from the famous book written by Hector Malot. Dewi has a mixed background. Her mother was born in Bandung, Indonesia and her father is Dutch. She has two brothers who both work in the music industry.In 2005 her graduation performance Above your head was selected for the International Theatre School Festival. She did her internship at Theatre Company Huis a/d Amstel in Schiller's Don Carlos as Princess Eboli. After her graduation she plays at Huis a/d Amstel in The Famished Road from writer Ben Okri and Molière's famous play The Imaginaire Invalide as his greedy wife Béline.In 2006 she is Mary in Tje Crucible from Arthur Miller at Theatre Cosmic. A year later Dewi appears in the true story Sivas by Paul Pourveur at Theater Rast. In 2008 she plays in the Dutch/Belgium production Interpreters of Eric de Volder from Theatre Company Ceremonia. The story is about the current European immigration policy.In 2009/2010 she plays Baboe Engko in The Tea Lords from the famous novel by Hella S. Haasse at Hummelinck Stuurman Theatre Agency. Winner of the Viewer Delft and nominated for an AVRO Theatre Publicity Award. The Tea Lords tells the life story of Rudolf Kerkhoven who travelled in 1871 from Holland to the remote tea plantation Gamboeng in the Preanger, Western Java in Indonesia.In 2011 Dewi plays in The Thief of Certainties of poet T. Martinus (winner of the New Dutch Festival) directed by Peer van den Berg. In 2012 Dewi plays in the sequel The Principles of Certainties.Besides her theatre work Dewi had a guest appearance in several TV series: Shouf Shouf the series, Cops Maastricht,The Santa Claus Journal, Police Post The Hague and Danni Lowinski. She's also known from the Douwe Egberts Coffee, UPC, ETOS and Ghirardelli commercial. Dewi is starring in the movies a.o. Wolf, Dolfje Werewolf, For Granted, The End of The World, Accepted and Perjalanan/The Journey.Dewi is also a writer, at the drama academy she wrote several plays. In the summer of 2009 she wrote and directed the youth play Rafi. Her play Air in The Kitchen Cupboards was selected for the New Dutch Festival. Her family play The Forgotten Forest came out in 2011. In the summer of 2012 she wrote 8 short stories for the website Indisch3.nl about her life in Jakarta and Bali.In 2013 she's shooting in Bandung and Jakarta the short film Perjalanan (The Journey); in which she plays the lead role. Dewi is also a co-writer. Perjalanan is selected for Balinale International Film festival and CinemAsia Film Festival. In the same year she plays on stage Test Animal directed by Bor Rooyackers. Dewi is starring in 2014 in the comic series 10 ways to... of RTL Productions and on stage in the play Normal written by Esther Gerritsen.In 2015 she writes the Holy Virgin, a short film with actress Liz Snoijink in the lead role. Besides that she's starring in the United States in the Ghirardelli Commercial produced by Caramel Pictures. She also makes her debut as a director with the youth film Idiot produced by In-Soo Productions about a mentally disabled girl. The lead is played by Rahima Gungor (who is also in real life mentally disabled) together with Emmy Award winner Maryam Hassouni.In 2015 and 2016 Dewi plays on stage in The Hidden Force ( Louis Couperus). The play is shown in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Spain and is directed by internationally acclaimed director Ivo van Hove (Theater Group Amsterdam). The film A Real Vermeer (Rudolf van den Berg) will release upcoming Autumn about Master Forger Han van Meegeren, Dewi plays his wife Anna van Meegeren. Show less «
