Derrick VanDerMillen is an American actor from Marion, Iowa.Born into a working-class family, he was raised by his parents Richard & Cindy VanDerMillen, with his sister Olivia. From a young age, Derrick desired to be in as many theatrical productions as he could, often driving great lengths to participate in the musicals of a neighboring town. He found his second home on the stage of Theatre Cedar Rapids, where he performed in productions of Aladdin, A Christmas Carol, Rent, and Hairspray. The theatrical experience would come full-circle as Derrick went on to teach the same youth-theatre classes he attended as a boy.In 2012, Derrick graduated from the University of Iowa with a double-major degree in Theatre Arts and Cinema. During his time at the University, he had performed in a theatre show every semester of his four years, as well as star in over twenty episodes across seven programs on the UITV Network. This hunger to perform lead Derrick to Chicago, where he went on to join Wayward Productions' cast of Richard III, set in a biker bar, performed live in a Chicago dive-bar.Though it pained him to leave the Midwest, Derrick journeyed West to Los Angeles to pursue Film & Television. After years of work in several short films, Derrick started finding recent success. This year, he lent his voice-over talents to the Netflix series Babylon Berlin, for the character Stephan Janicke. As well, Derrick's hosting talents debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 with the promotion of the Jack Ryan Virtual Reality Experience (Prime Video), streamed live on Twitch to a peak audience of 3.4 Million people.Derrick remains committed to working with as many creatives as he can.
