Derrick cut his teeth in the entertainment business as an actor, model and photographer working with famed directors Michael Bay, Andy Morahan and David LaChapelle among others until he turned his focus to his lifelong dream of writing, directing and producing. He worked in all aspects of film production learning it from the ground up, beginning in office administration before moving up to creative posts - shooting behind the scenes, punching up scripts, development and running sets as producer. He worked on indies as well as on films by Blumhouse and Fox.He has sold three screenplays - Made In Japan (mumblecore, in turnaround), The Get Back Girl (thriller, in pre-production) and Hannah Saves Hollywood (YA rom-com slated for production late summer 2022) and is set to make his directorial debut with The Get Back Girl.
