DeMarr Thomas was born DeMarr DesMond Lowe on January 12, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois. His childhood years were spent between Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Houston, Texas. When he was six, his mother Deborah Irene Forbes (Thomas), had an uncredited extra role in the 1982 Richard Donner comedy 'The Toy'. DeMarr spent many hours on set playing with child star Scott Schwartz and became fascinated with the process of movie making. DeMarr credits this early experience witnessing comedic icons Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason as the starting point of his love of acting and the performing arts.During his high school years in Houston, DeMarr was active in both drama and JROTC. In drama, he competed in monologue, extemporaneous speaking and one act play competitions. In JROTC, he used his natural athleticism and his affinity for drill and ceremony to compete in silent drill competitions. DeMarr's academic achievements and experience with JRTC earned him an appointment to the US Naval Academy. DeMarr left USNA one semester before graduation. He credits his time there as the most mentally and physically demanding of his life and, to date, references all difficult experiences against his time in Annapolis. From 1994 to present, DeMarr has concentrated his efforts on service in the US Armed Forces. This time includes his three years at the US Naval Academy (1994-1997), time as a US Army Ranger (1999-2002) and a US Army Helicopter Pilot (2002-Present). Throughout this time, he never forgot his love of acting and has made efforts where possible to stay connected to the performing arts. He has performed in numerous unpaid or uncredited roles in web series, TV shows and movies including Party Girl (web series, 2014), Revolution (NBC TV series, 2012-2014), Flashes (movie in post production, 2014) and Men Women and Children (movie in production, 2014).As his military career draws to an end, DeMarr plans to become more active in the performing arts primarily as an actor or stunt man, but in whatever capacity he can. He intends to take the hard work and dedicated attitude he has shown in military service and amplify that back into his love of the performing arts. Show less «
