Dave was born in Greenville, South Carolina in a women's shelter that closed down that same week. Within a week, Dave's family had moved to Madeira Beach, Florida. His father became a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force, so the family moved around a lot. Before his 20th birthday, Dave had lived in five different cities in Florida, as well as in Greenville, South Carolina; Minot, North Dakota; Sembach, Germany; San Antonio, Texas; San Rafael, California; Newport News, Virginia; and Anchorage, Alaska. From Kindergarten through 12th grade, Dave attended 11 different schools. On June 12th, 1986, he was stricken with a rare condition called Miller Fischer Variant Guillian Barre Syndrome. His was one of less than 200 recorded cases worldwide at the time. His nervous system was wiped out and he had to relearn how to do everything over again, from the most basic tasks such as lifting his head from the hospital bed and picking up a spoon to feed himself. He was released from the hospital on his twentieth birthday. Within six months he was able to return to work and twenty years later there are no visible remains of the condition. Only he can tell that this ever happened to him.Dave settled down somewhat after that and for the last twenty years, has lived only in Florida, Ohio and California. He graduated from the Tallahassee Community College film program with honors, and went on to attend the FSU Film School. Before graduating, Dave left the Film School and later graduated from the University of Central Florida. However, three days before graduating, Dave was bitten by a poisonous coral snake is his back yard in Orlando, Florida. He spent a night in the emergency room, and a day in ICU, but as the first sibling in his family to receive a college degree, he was determined to allow his parents to see him receive his degree, so with some effort, he walked the stage anyway.Dave has two daughters, Anastasia Nicole (born November 21, 1996) and Taya Elise (born September 14, 2000).Dave currently lives with his wife and daughters in Green, Ohio.
