Darren Higham is an actor and writer, known for Somnus (2016), Modern Life Is Rubbish (2017) and The Armando Iannucci Shows (2001). Darren Higham is an actor, writer, director and producer. After studying for an acting degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, Darren had his first acting break when he was cast in Clocking Off. This hit drama was written by Paul Abbott and was based around a group of factory workers at a Manchester textiles factory. Darren was subsequently to be cast in the long standing television series, Dalziel and Pascoe (directed by Prime Suspect's director Paul Marcus). Comedy was next for Darren. He was noticed by Armando Iannucci (comedy writer/director of shows such as I'm Alan Partridge and The Thick Of It) who cast him in his self-named sketch show, The Armando Iannucci Show. Dirty War, a film produced by HBO/BBC about the latter stages of a terrorist operation in London, is where Darren made his film debut. This proved to be a hit in both the UK and America. Darren's passion is not only for acting (in film, television and stage) but also for the creative process of writing and making films. He has starred in several successful short films, Show Me London, directed by Jim Hosking and Tom Greens, was the best film winner at the 2359 Film Competition. Then came a short called 1234, a Straight Eight runner up, written and directed by James Davison. His latest project, Desperados, is where Darren is at his most comfortable. Not only does he star in this film but it was also written, directed and co-produced (under the name of his production company, Creative Badger Films) by him. Desperados is a comedy short set in the northwest of England. Darren is now focusing his efforts on prompting Desperados which is currently on the short film circuit. It has already premiered at The End Of The Pier International Film Festival and is showing in the Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival. Show less «
