Darlene was born in Pomona, California. Ever since she was little she was drawn to the performing arts. Her mother recognized this and enrolled her in various classes at an early age. When she was nine, she was inspired by her fourth grade teacher, who encouraged her to write stories. Since then her passion for storytelling has never left her. In high school she also studied drama, dance, and voice, all of which she still has an active interest to this day. After she graduated from high school in Ontario, California, she moved with her family to Los Angeles. She took some community college courses, but soon found that a "conventional" education was not for her. After a period of working odd jobs for several years, she decided to continue her education after moving to Las Vegas in 2004. She initially entered The Art Institute as a web design major, but switched to Video Production after taking an editing class. She also took a screen writing course and both these experiences helped to hone her craft and sharpen her skills during her tenure there. Over the years she has developed as an artist both in front of and behind the camera. She produced and wrote her first short film, Come Together, which placed in the Top Ten for the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Online Film Festival in 2010 and won a Silver Screen Award (Honorable Mention) at the 2011 Nevada Film Festival. She also worked as a videographer and editor for Spiegelworld's production of Absinthe at Caesars Palace.
