Born and raised in North Carolina, Dane migrated to New York City to attend School of Visual Arts with advanced photography studies in Paris. Soon after he started working as a cinematographer.He was nominated for an Emmy for his work on CNN's Doc-series "Pope: The Most Powerful Man in History". He also shot Alison Eastwood's sophomore feature film, "Battlecreek." Dane crafted the premiere season of Nat Geo Wild's "Heartland Docs, DVM," and lensed many episodes of the award-winning shows, "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" (Travel Channel), "What Not To Wear" (TLC), and "Explorer", "Star Talk", "Heartland Docs" and "When Sharks Attack" for National Geographic, amongst a long, varied list of television programming and feature films. In addition he also directed A&E's "Crazy Hearts: Nashville."His documentary work spans the globe from the deserts of Iraq to the projects of Northern New Jersey, with films including the Academy Award considered "Quest for Honor," Morgan Spurlock's "Comic Con IV: A Fan's Hope," "The Street Stops Here" (PBS) and "TEA Party America" (BBC).Dane's strong story sense, collaborative nature and cinematic expertise are vital when it comes to lensing scripted films. Some of his credits include: "Altitude" (Dolph Lundgren, Denise Richards), "House of the Witch"(SyFy), "Angels Fallen" (Michael Madsen), and the award-winning short, "The Lost Cause" (directed by Jim Taylor).He is a member of IATSE Local 600 as a Director of Photography and an active member of the SOC, a PADI Divemaster and an FAA Licensed Drone Pilot.
