Dale Nowicki is an attorney, actor, and law enforcement technical advisor. Dale began acting professionally when the director of a law enforcement oriented film documentary was looking for a technical advisor. Due to his work on the set and ability to translate police procedures onto film, the director cast him in a key acting role. Dale has acted in film and television. Due to his deep experience in law enforcement, he has worked as a law enforcement and military technical advisor for film and television since 1995.Dale's legal practice involves a combination of litigation and production counsel. He has worked as legal counsel for several film productions handling both above the line and below the line issues. Based on his prior law enforcement experience, Dale has represented public safety employees in many hundreds of use of force incidents, agency administrative policy and procedure matters, and assisted in the determination of criminal liability related to uses of force. Dale also devotes many volunteer hours to community organizations.Dale began his law enforcement career in the late 80's as a sheriff's deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD). As a deputy, Dale worked a variety of assignments. These included field training officer, detective, traffic enforcement, tactical flight officer, and helicopter pilot. He has received awards for exemplary performance, numerous commendations, and acknowledgments for excellence from various municipal agencies, civic groups, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, and the Los Angeles County Criminal Courts Bar Association. During his tenure on the LASD, he wrote published articles for the National Tactical Officer Association's highly respected quarterly journal, The Tactical Edge, as a recognized expert in field patrol tactics. Additionally, Dale has completed the NTOA's Special Weapon's Team Supervisor Course, and the California P.O.S.T. certified Crisis Negotiations Course. Dale has also written several published articles on police procedures and has been recognized as an expert on police patrol tactics.While volunteering at the OCDA Homicide Unit, Dale used his first hand experience in OIS to draft District Attorney decision and opinion letters for several police agency Officer Involved Shootings during the period he was assigned to the homicide unit.Prior to his law enforcement career, Dale served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army for eight years, with mechanized and special operations assignments (RLTW).Besides his law degree, Dale also has a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, and his undergraduate degree in criminal justice and military officer studies.
