Catherine Black is a Canadian actress who grew up in Owen Sound, and Brampton, riding snowmobiles, skiing and training in gymnastics. Sometimes known as Cat Black.Catherine spent her teenage years in Toronto, making her stage debut at the age of 16 as "Juliet"in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet directed by Lewis Baumander. Catherine would go on to star in several Dora Award winning productions such as Walls of Africa (Theatre Passe Muraille), Crimes (Canadian Stage/Berkeley St. Theatre) and The Human Zoo (Factory Theatre). Catherine is best known for playing Vanden in American Psycho, Odyssey 5, and starring in The Donner Party. Catherine has also appeared in such films and TV series as Highlander: The Raven, In A Heartbeat, Blue Murder, Show Me Yours, Loser, Ten for Grandpa, and Stay Cool. Catherine wrote, directed and stars in De Puta Madre A Love Story, a 16 minute short film about an abused woman who has a fantasy of being kidnapped by her ex lover.Catherine studied classical singing at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Having performed with various musicians in venues such as The Cameron House and The El Macombo, she continues to perform in her spare time.Catherine is also a self taught classical painter, who specializes in portraits. Catherine's paintings have been exhibited for several years in Toronto, throughout Canada and Internationally. Catherine has also been commissioned by a missionary group in Cuba to visually represent orphaned children.Catherine is living in the Los Angeles area, preparing paintings, writing scripts, and performing improv.
