Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr. of the Arturo Fuente Cigar Co. along with his father Carlos Fuente Sr. is of Cuban heritage and considered one of if not THE most successful Cigar Makers in the industry. The Company was started in 1912 in Tampa Fl. by Carlito's Grandfather Arturo. Through many hardships in which factories in Nicaragua were burned down by the Sandinista's and then moved to Honduras where it saw the same fate due to fire finally settled in The Dominican Republic after a brief stint back in Tampa Fl. He and Andy Garcia are very good friends and Carlito continues to be a Philanthropist with The Dominican Republic's less fortunate (see weblink to The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation). Carlos Fuente Jr. created in the mid 90's the first successful 100% Dominican cigar, the Opus X which he was told time and time again could not be done and it has continued to be the most sought after cigar in the world. He is a passionate man and positively affects by example the entire premium cigar industry with his continued innovative ideas and quality control.
