Apart from working in the music department at TVB (Television Broadcast Ltd)- one of Asia's top television network companies, C. Kenneth Lee is an award winning contemporary-classical composer. He is also a pianist, occasional author & actor, award winning classically trained singer.(2006-2012) Lee is a 2008 ASCAP Composer Award Finalist, recipient of The 2005 California Institute of Music's "Creative Student Leadership Award", and many other music awards winning Asian Classical-Crossover/Film Composer. C. Lee, the youngest and only Asian to have signed with Edition Wandelweiser Records, a major German classical Label that have signed big names like John Cage, Morton Feldman. etc. Lee's CD with E.W.R will appear 2012. C. Lee is also known for being the performer-composer of Global Dignity's Theme Song "Dignity"(not the rap song). He premiered his song and sang it at The Global Dignity Awareness Cocktail-dinner Auction-preview held at The Hong Kong Island Shangri-la Hotel on Nov 25,2011 sponsored by Bonhams Asia, MCM and Global Dignity. In Feb, 2012-C. Lee performed as a guest singer/pianist with asian pop singers- Sherman Chung, Janice and Jill Vidal in a 5 night Hong Kong Music Concert Tour to promote "Love". Lee has worked musically with and assisted with artists like Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, David Rosenboom, Bobby Taylor(Jackson 5's producer), Carlsbad Music Festival, California EAR Unit, Janice & Jill Vidal, Sherman Chung, Vicky Fung, Phoebus Chan, Katie Geissinger, Northwestern University N.H.S.M.I orchestra, CalArts Orchestra, and other groups and artists in the U.S and in Hong Kong. Lee has been sponsored to have his own solo concerts in USA such as Beverly Hills.etc, Australia, Hong Kong such as "Peninsula Hotel", "Hong Kong Grand Hyatt Hotel", "The Island Shangri-La Hotel".etc),and "Princess Cruises". Lee's music has been performed by David Rosenboom, Allan Vogel of Los Angeles Chamber orchestra, California EAR Unit, Susan Allen, Matt McBane.etc. as well as chosen for the 20th Century Fox sponsored "The 2009 Independent Asian Pacific Islander Performing Artists and Writers Festival" in Los Angeles. Lee and his music has also been featured in several newspapers (Hong Kong Economic journal, East West Magazine, Del Mar Village Voice. etc) and on radio broadcasts from the USA(ex: UCLA radio), United Kingdom(ex: Tempo FM 107.4, Hong Kong (ex: RTHK),and Australia(ex: 2 CR Radio Network). C. Lee has collaborated with many bands and choirs, and has released 4 solo CDs of his original compositions on "iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody", and other mp3 venders, Lee was nominated and almost recorded for Capitol Records/EMI.(2005-2012) Lee was a faculty of The HK Yip's Children's Choral & Performing Arts School Voice Department, guest music faculty of The Hong Kong CCC Kei To Secondary School, an assistant faculty of the F.O.C.U.S Intensive Reading & Language Arts Summer Program in Hong Kong, has been a substitute faculty of California Institute of the Arts Pre-College Voice Program(2010-2011), & private music/English tutor. Lee has taught kindergarten in the San Dieguitto Union High School District from 2005-2006, and started a music therapy class for the TPHS Special Ed. Department (2005-2007) with school pathologist at The Torrey Pines High School in San Diego.C. Lee has studied piano with an alumni from The Julliard School, an alumni from The Eastman School of Music, faculties at California Institute of the Arts and was granted his Licentiate Recital Diploma Equivalency letter by The Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L) both in piano and voice. Lee studied music composition at Northwestern University's National High School Music Institute, The Walnut Hill School, & received his Bachelors degree in music composition at California Institute of the Arts(CalArts). Lee has studied composition/worked with Augusta Read Thomas, Morton Subotnick, Steve Hoey, David Rosenboom, Wolfgang Von Schweinitz, Matt McBane, Michael Pisaro, Barry Schrader, Rob Wannamaker. etc, and studied voice with Angela Gooch, Alla Markovich, Jimmy Chan. etc. Lee was a nominated candidate for the 2010 election for senator of CalArts School of Music that ended in a TIE.Lee wrote a newspaper article "Classical vs Pop Music, Now That's Hot!" which appeared and published in a San Diego newspaper in 2007 and in his first book, "Selected Poems, Articles & Short Stories".(1992-present) Apart from small TV appearances on ABC & CBS, Lee sang & acted in several lead and supporting roles that included being a member of The Original US West Coast Opera Cast of Iannis Xenakis' only opera, (2010) Oresteia, a member of The Los Angeles Original Musical Cast with Meredith Monk in (2008)Songs of Ascension that toured at redcat in The Walt Disney Concert Hall, and a supporting lead role of The Original Hong Kong Musical Cast of (2011) Big The Musical.
