In 1983, Ring Magazine named Chacon its "Comeback Player of the Year." In 1988, Warren Zevon in his song "Boom Boom Mancini" from his album "Sentimental Hygiene" mentioned Chacon. In 2005, Chacon was named to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
