Bill was born in Albany, NY, but his life as a screenwriter began in New Orleans with his decision to adapt his own novella into the feature screenplay, Redmond, which went on to win the top screenwriting award at the IFP Market in New York City. His next original screenplay, The Long Blue Yonder, was a semi-finalist for the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting, was selected for Hollywood's prestigious Black List, and got the attention of agents and producers on both coasts.Bill's work reveals a rare versatility. His projects have ranged from the dramatic to the comedic, from science fiction to thriller to musical comedy.
