Bart La Rue was born Jimmie Bartell Larue on October 30, 1932 in Abilene, Texas. His mother was a stay-at-home mother and a housewife. His father was an Attorney who became a Judge in Abilene. Bart returned to Abilene after some years as an actor who had minor roles in television series and commercials. His mother had died and his father was sick and needed a caretaker. Bart was on the faculty at McMurry College as a Drama Professor from 1960 until 1965. He was a classically handsome man, the John Garfield type, with a rich baritone voice that got him a number of roles as a narrator. He had roles in many popular series such as Bonanza (1959), Star Trek (1966) and Mission: Impossible (1966), but never reached stardom. Show less «
