Born in Long Island, New York, Ashlee Katherine Macropoulos is an actress, and writer of Greek descent. From an early age, Ashlee expressed a passion for the performing arts. Her first public performance was in elementary school, playing the lead in the old children's folk tale, 'The Little Red Hen'.With a taste for acting, and musical theatre, at age eight, Ashlee joined famed vocal performance school 'Stars of Tomorrow', in Long Island. She continued to star in various semi-professional stage productions, and school plays. During a summer vacation, Ashlee attended a sleep-away performing arts camp, to be part of that year's musical production of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy-tale story 'The Princess and the Pea', where she played the Princess. With her talent for acting blossoming, Ashlee went on to portray the main antagonist, Sharpay Evans, in her high school's rendition of Disney's 'High School Musical', and attended the Choate Summer Arts Conservatory, a curriculum which focused on musical theatre, and pure performance training. It is no wonder in high school, her senior superlative was "most likely to be on TV."Although acting played a big part in Ashlee's life, her parents were keen for her to have a more balanced perspective. She was enrolled into various sporting activities, including lacrosse and basketball, but it was the soccer field that drove Ashlee competitively. For several years, running concurrently to acting, Ashlee, and her team, toured the United States. With her parents, still unconvinced of a career in acting, Ashlee was encouraged to study for a more stable career path in advertising, and so attended the University of Colorado Boulder. Although her initial course was predominantly in advertising, she quickly made the switch to major in film, and left with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and a certificate in advertising.During her college years, Ashlee was exposed to avant-garde cinema from all over the world. She loved critically analyzing the films, and experiencing the different aesthetics outside of traditional Hollywood. Ashlee was mesmerized by filmmaking and so delved deeper into understanding all facets of the entertainment industry. She took a Super 8mm camera film course where she filmed her first art house short film 'Omega' and learned how to edit by cutting and splicing footage together. She also took classes in Spanish, Italian, Asian cinema so as to understand the history of film, and international filmmaking.Since moving to Los Angeles, Ashlee, has worked on the Daytime EMMY-winning TV show 'The Bay' and plays the head strong tom boy, Cassie on the EMMY-nominated comedy Pop TV sitcom 'This Just In', with Rob Pinkston and Elizabeth Stanton.Ashlee can also be seen in the upcoming drama feature film, 'Glass Jaw', produced by veteran Hollywood producer Steve Perry (True Romance) and opposite an all-star cast including; Jaime Camil (Jane the Virgin), Reynaldo Gallegos (Logan), Mark Rolston (The Departed) and Vernon Wells (Commando), set for release later this year.In addition to acting and singing, Ashlee has an interest in fashion, and is inspired by fashion icons Betsy Johnson and Moschino. She has attended several classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, and enjoys designing women's clothing using outlandish and vibrant fabrics. When Ashlee isn't acting, or sketching out runway clothing pieces, she loves to write Slam Poetry, improvise with quirky accents, and attends various scene study and acting classes to further hone her acting talents.
