Composer, songwriter, author, arranger and conductor Arthur Lange was educated in private music study and later became an arranger for Broadway musicals and dance orchestras. In 1929, he became the head of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer music department, and assumed similar duties at other film studios. Between 1947 and 1956 he conducted the Santa Monica Civic Symphony, which he had organized. He joined ASCAP in 1924. Mr. Lange had two boys by his first wife, from whom he separated in the late 1920s and finally divorced in 1931. He then married Marjorie Joesting, a runner-up for Miss America of 1926. Art and Margie had met during the 1927 run of the Broadway musical "Honeymoon Lane". They had no children. In addition to his skills as a composer and arranger, Lange was the musical director for Cameo Records, which were sold by R.H. Macy & Co. and other distributors. Show less «
