André Sun (born on October 26, 1991) is a Brazilian actor. He is of Spanish and Chinese descent, with both sides of his family immigrating to Brazil in the early 60s, when his parents were still children. Sun is the only son of two journalists, Elvira Grande Gago, a proofreader, and Adam Sun, a fact-checker.André was born and grew up in São Paulo. At the age of 17 he moved to Campinas, to attend the Dramatic Arts course at State University of Campinas. There, he also got his Master's degree in 2017, writing a dissertation about the grotesque acting techniques of Dercy Gonçalves (1907-2008), a celebrated Brazilian actress.Sun is one of the founding members of Damião e Cia de Teatro, an awarded street theatre collective based in Campinas. Its research is focused on the integration of traditional Brazilian performances with theatrical comedy, clowning and mask techniques. André was part of the group from 2012 to 2017, touring on different Brazilian states and performing in festivals, squares, parks, schools and even in a supermarket parking lot.From August 2018 until the end of 2019, Sun lived in different countries in a mix of tourism, study and work. During this time he backpacked, hitchhiked and voluntareed in exchange for accommodation in Southeast Asia; studied the traditional Dance-Drama Topeng in Bali for two months; and studied the Beijing Opera in Beijing for one month. His last stop was in London, where he worked for five months as an Actor/Sales Associate at the Toy's Department of a high-end department store, to recover part of his travel expenses.Back in Brazil in January 2020, André started his screen acting career with the series Lov3 (2021).
